Glossary
Account: An organization with which we want to do business.
Approval Chain: A collection of approval rules focused on a specific area (e.g., Sales Approval, Pricing Approval, etc.).
Approval Condition: The criteria under which quotes and quote lines trigger approval.
Approval Email Template: A template used to notify sellers and approvers that an approval has been created or updated.
Approval Rule: A rule that tests whether a quote or quote lines require approval and then routes the quote to the appropriate approvers for acceptance or rejection. Approval rules are triggered by the Submit for Approval button.
Approval Work Item: An approval assigned to an approver that must be accepted or rejected.
Approver: A person or group that approves or rejects approval requests.
Attribute Definition: A data point updated manually or automatically that drives product availability, pricing, and more. For example, we must know whether our customer has a gluten allergy when we configure their sandwich.
Bundle: A collection of products sold together. For example, a meal contains a sandwich, a side, and a drink.
Configuration Rule: A function that streamlines product configuration through automated actions and reduces configuration errors through validations, alerts, dependencies, exclusions, and more.
Context Definition: Represents the validation, inclusion, and exclusion rules for products in the context of the selling process. The selling process can be quoting, configuration, or ordering.
Expression Set: Expression sets—the calculation engine of business rules—consist of a series of steps connected in a logical flow built from variables, constants, conditions, calculations, lookups, and aggregations.
Opportunity: A potential deal with a prospect or customer.
Price Book Entry: A record documenting the price of a product for each currency and price book combination. For example, a sandwich is $10 USD in the standard price book.
Price Book: A collection of product records that tracks the prices of products and services that our company offers to customers.
Pricing Element: The building blocks of pricing procedures. The function and sequence of pricing elements determine how prices are calculated and applied.
Pricing Procedure: A sequence of actions taken against an original price (e.g., price adjustments, price waivers, discounts, etc.) to arrive at a final price.
Product Catalog Management: A module of Salesforce Revenue Cloud that provides a structural and visual framework for product management, including product search and selection, product hierarchies, data enrichment, and more.
Product Catalog: A subset of products grouped by a common factor. For example, each line of business may have its own product catalog.
Product Category: A means of structurally and visually organizing products in a product catalog. Product categories can be hierarchical, with multiple levels of subcategories.
Product Classification: A template that applies a collection of attributes to products with similar characteristics. Assigned attributes can be modified to override their default values.
Product Component Group: A category of components sold as part of a bundle. For example, a meal contains multiple sandwich options.
Product Disqualification: Represents disqualification rules for products. The rules determine when the product doesn’t qualify to be displayed to users. The rules are based on user context.
Product Qualification: Represents qualification rules for products. The rules determine when the product qualifies to be displayed to users. The rules are based on user context.
Product Related Component: A product sold as part of another product. For example, a sandwich is sold as part of a meal.
Product Selling Model Option: A junction object between Product Selling Model and Product2. For example, a subscription-based product can use a monthly evergreen product selling model. The product’s product selling model option record connects it to the monthly evergreen product selling model.
Product Selling Model: Defines one method by which a product can be sold; for example, as a one-time sale, an evergreen subscription, or a term-defined subscription. If the product is sold on subscription, this object defines the subscription’s term.
Product: A good or service that we sell to our customers.
Qualification Rule: A rule that determines which products do and do not appear for selection by the user.
Quote Line Group: A group of products in a proposal that is often treated as a sub-quote. For example, we can use groups to distinguish Good-Better-Best options, different locations, and more.
Quote Line Item: A product in a proposal.
Quote: A proposal for goods and services.
Quote Document: A PDF representation of the quote to be sent to the prospect or customer for signature.
Salesforce Pricing: A module of Salesforce Revenue Cloud that provides a unified, flexible, and scalable framework for pricing and discounting goods and services for a range of scenarios, including volume discounts, subscription pricing, bundle pricing, and more.
